How to become a Barrister while studying in Pakistan
The traditional way to become a Barrister is by doing Bar at Law (BPTC) while studying in the UK. However, that is not the only way to become a Barrister; Practising lawyers in any common law jurisdiction (Pakistan is a common law jurisdiction) can also choose the path of becoming a Barrister through the Bar Transfer Test held by Bar Standard Board through BPP University. This, however, doesn’t mean that this path of becoming a Barrister is easier than going to the UK and doing your BPTC. Here are some common challenges Blackstone School of Law & Business face while studying the Bar at Law Transfer Course:
Practicing lawyers have to manage their studies because of their court cases and office work. Blackstone provides them, weekend classes, complete course preparation through practicing Barristers, study material, practice tests so students who are also practicing lawyers can save time and make the best use of their time.
Another question that arises when deciding for a degree after LLB is should I start my study to become a Barrister early in my career or when I have more years of experience. At Blackstone, we encourage students to start their studies to become a Barrister early in their career because as you develop you legal practice you will become a lot busier.
Some of the students are not based in Lahore. It is quite challenging to move to Lahore for the program. Blackstone also has the facility enabled through the latest technology tools to deliver classes through live online sessions. Students can interact with students and teachers during the class timings. Students are also given access to the classroom through Google Classroom.
