Blackstone School of Law is a Recognised Teaching Center of University of London

Blackstone School of Law is a Recognised Teaching Center of University of London

University of London is a prestigious 180 years old public university in London that offers a number of degree programs around the world. The University enrols hundreds of students from all over Pakistan (majority for the LLB Hons degree) who study while staying in Pakistan, appear for exams at the British Council, and graduate with a University of London LLB (Hons) degree upon successful completion of the program. The biggest question for prospective students is whether they should undertake this degree privately as a distance learning program or study with a Recognised Teaching Centre. Today, we will discuss the benefits of choosing a Recognised Teaching Centre of University of London as your college.

  1. Recognised Teaching Centre goes through a rigorous quality check with the University of London in order to have the respected title of a “Recognised Centre”. University of London teams thoroughly assesses the academic quality, administrative processes, and campus facilities during this lengthy process. Choosing a Recognised Teaching Centre means you are choosing the best quality of education available.

  2. In order to become a Recognised Teaching Centre, the college has to hire highly competent faculty members, many of whom are usually internationally qualified themselves. This gives you a full range of highly capable teachers who are also typically well-connected with their field.

  3. University of London promotes a culture of respect for diversity and dignity of the students. As a Recognised Teaching Centre of University of London, the college upholds these values. By choosing a recognised centre you will ensure that you get the respect and support you deserve.

  4. University of London encourages and promotes gender equality. Therefore, as a recognised teaching centre, the institute provides opportunities to encourage equal participation of female students in academic and overall in the legal field. There is zero tolerance for discrimination and harassment leading to a safe campus environment.

  5. University of London provides strong administrative support to the recognized teaching centers. This means any student services related issue is solved in an efficient way to provide the best solution possible.

When choosing the University of London LLB (Hons) degree, it is essential to keep the above-mentioned points in mind. This is a challenging and exciting program of study and anyone choosing the field of law must avail the best support that they deserve.

University of London LLB or LLB from a Pakistani University

Comparison of University of London LLB and LLB from a Pakistani University

Law students are eligible to acquire a license after they graduate from a local LLB from a University in Pakistan or after their graduation LLB from the University of London. However, there are some specific advantages to pursuing an LLB degree from the University of London.

  1. University of London students receive an International degree from a University that is 184 years old, which has international prestige.

  2. Our students after graduation are eligible to become Barristers directly without the need to do a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). Please note students acquiring an LLB from a Pakistani university must do a GDL before they can do their Bar at Law.

  3. An LLB degree from the University of London is more cost-effective in the long term for students who are planning on becoming a Barrister. Since LLB students from the University of London are not required to do a Graduate Diploma in Law, they save approximately 18 thousand pounds in tuition fees.

  4. The local degree from a university in Pakistan is five years after A-Level, on the other hand, the University of London LLB degree is three years.

  5. The curriculum of the University of London subjects is updated every year. Students are provided a study guide by the University of London so that they can study the latest laws. Students studying in local LLB degrees study from outdated versions of books and are not aware of international and national latest updates.

  6. Most of the graduates from the University of London have a very keen understanding of the law. Therefore, they start their career working with a lawyer who practices in the High Court or Supreme Court. Students who graduate from their LLB from a Pakistani university have a weaker grip on the points of law.

International Model United Nations (MUN)

A crucial part of LLB (Hons) University of London studies at Blackstone is participation in international competitions.

Law school is not only about sitting in a chair in your classroom and listening to your lecturer explaining complex concepts. Law school is all about learning advanced skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking and team work. To that effect, at Blackstone, we provide opportunities to our law students to participate in international law moots and Model United Nations (MUN) competitions.

Most recently, our LLB class participated in one of the most sought-after MUN that was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York and was hosted by the United Nations itself. Future leaders from many countries, and Blackstone students from Pakistan, travelled NY for 7 days and represented their assigned countries in the UN style discussion. Our students identified and articulated many international issues in the debate and were categorically praised by the organizers of the MUN. During this trip to NY, we also provided our students with an opportunity to visit the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations to learn about Pakistan’s particular role in the United Nations. Our students are also proud to be featured on the Twitter and other social media pages of the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations.

13 Years of Experience with Admissions in Top International Universities

We understand, in the ever-changing world with fluid international boundaries, it is every student’s need to pursue their studies abroad. However, the admission process in top international universities is cumbersome, tedious and confusing. A lot of the students, due to busy study schedules and social calendar, miss important deadlines or details which puts their admission at risk. We take pride in the being the pioneer law school in Pakistan that helps its students throughout their admissions abroad after completion of their LLB with us. We typically start the process in the second year of LLB, mainly because a lot of top universities have higher acceptance rate for early admissions. Our team has 13 years of experience of successful admissions at universities like Harvard, Cambridge, City University, Indiana University and many more. We truly believe in encouraging all of our students to pursue not only their higher education abroad but also international employment opportunities because the exposure gained by studying and working abroad has no match. It prepares them in becoming ethical and hardworking professionals and gives them an edge in the local market if they choose to return.

If you are considering applying for universities abroad, here are some small tips:

  1. Short-list around 10 Universities

The time when you are applying is not the right time to choose your one favourite university. Select a range of universities, some high ranked and some mid-level in different countries. Your best time to make a choice will be when you have a few admissions offers in hand.

  2. Start early

Start your admission application after the result of your second year of LLB (Hons). Remember that top tier universities have early deadlines (around December of your final year).

  3. Focus on your Personal Statement/Statement of Purpose

Top universities do not only focus on your grades. They want to read a fantastic life story in your personal statement. We believe that each one of you has a unique story to tell. Focus on the challenges you faced in your life and how did you come out of it as a better person.

  4. Keep your communication professional

When writing an e-mail to the admission staff, keep your language very professional. Check and double-check your e-mails for typos. Do not do unnecessary follow-ups on applications. If you write an e-mail, remember that 3 business days is a usual response time; however, it may take longer for them to respond.

  5. Keep calm and hope for the best.

Majority of our LLB (Hons) University of London students are able to secure admissions and scholarships. We thank our team for working tirelessly for the future of our students.

Why law students should do a Mini-Pupillage during their LLB (Hons) degree?

What is Mini Pupillage?

University of London LLB students spend their 3 years of legal study with a complete focus on the academic side of the law. What kind of cases will I work on while I am studying the University of London LLB (Hons) at Blackstone School of Law & Business?

You will be working on real cases from different legal disciplines. Here is an example list of cases you will undertake during your Mini Puppilage with Blackstone School of Law & Business.

  1. Civil litigation

  3. Human right petitions

  4. Environment cases
